What is it:

A revised formula of Autoglyms Plastic & Trim Conditioner from the Autoglym Professional Range. Designed to restore and offer a water repellent barrier for plastic trim surfaces to both enhance appearance and protect the trim.

How we Tested it:

Truth be told, we actually came to test this trim dressing several months ago by pure chance. We had just ran out of the trim dressing we were using at the time at the detailing studio and our local Autoglym rep popped in to see us. We accordingly purchased a litre of the trim dressing and have since put it through its paces over many months allowing us to gain a great overview of the product. We have largely looked at the final appearance, longevity and ease of use.

We Liked:

• Leaves a lovely deep rich gloss to the plastic surfaces which can be made more matte in appearance by buffing gently.
• A little goes a very long way. Economical product that will last you a fair while.
• Quite durable for a trim dressing. We would say the deep appearance lasts 2-3 weeks but noticeable improvement for double this.
• Fast way to restore and transform vehicle appearance.

We Didn't like:

• This needs transferring to the on the shelf range. It is far superior to the trim dressing currently sold to the home user.
• Quite a messy product to use. A thick but runny gel which is extremely slick
• Image on bottle implies use for rubber trim around window edges. Instructions state not for rubber trim.

Overall:

Our most hated task in vehicle care is trim dressing so any product that can help make this either more enjoyable or easier is win-win for us. Autoglym's Professional range has consistently put out quality products at good prices and the Plastic and Trim Dressing is definitely a very welcome addition to the range. We always found the off the shelf trim offering streaky and inconsistent so it was refreshing to see this performing well on our test vehicle and leaving a very nice finish.

We would advise to take care with water drips travelling over panel during or just after application and to make sure the area is bone dry as this can effect finish and definitely wear gloves as it isn't a nice product to handle. This aside, the product is easy to use and spreads over a large area making it economical and good value and we would definitely recommend as one of the better dressings for those of you who fairly regularly dress trim and particularly trade users, the products target market.
