What is it?

A jump starter is always invaluable when you return to your car to find out you left the lights on and it's drained the battery. As you don't always have access to jump leads and a donor car; a portable jump starter is the perfect thing to carry with you.

The Sakura Jump Starter is a compact yet powerful jump starter for 12V vehicles. This jump starter has a peak current of 400Amp and an output of 7500mAh from its Lithium-ion Polymer battery. Not only can it jump start a car it can be used as a normal powerbank with its USB Output.

At only 143 x 73 x 25mm in size it packs a punch for its size. It's prominently made from plastic but feels well-constructed and the manufacturer claims it is shockproof to 1m. It comes presented in a nice case meaning you can store it safely in your car until it's required.

It comes with pigtale jump leads with smart reverse polarity protection to connect to your vehicle. These are able to jump a vehicle with an engine up to a 3.5L Petrol or 2L Diesel.

It also features a flashlight that can be enabled by holding down the power button, you can then cycle to a strobe setting.

When switching the jumper start on you also get a battery indicator showing you how much it's charged which is always handy.

It currently retails at around £65 but the price varies from a range of different retailers.

How we tested it?

We tested the jump started out on a 1.6L Petrol engine which should comfortably be able to start the car when looking at the manufacturer's claims.

We charged the device up fully the night before and then drained the battery on the test car. Then following the easy instructions connected up the pigtale jump leads and attempted to start the car.

We Liked:

• Most importantly it successfully turned over the test vehicle
• The LED light is useful to help you see whilst connecting it up if you find yourself with a flat battery at night.
• It's a lovely compact size and well presented in a zipped soft case

We didn't like:

• We're struggling for any negatives to be honest, we were very impressed. If we were clutching at straws then the leads could be slightly longer.

Overall:

We were impressed with this Jump Starter - it's compact, powerful and feels well made. In fact, we really struggled to pick flaws with it. The price is about right for a portable jump starter of this capacity and it is well-presented and feels well made. Do we recommend it? Yes.
