What We Say

What is it?

The Muson MK2 is a portable Bluetooth receiver and transmitter aimed at not only in your vehicle but in the home. The first thing that strikes you is the size – coming in at only around 48mmx48mm (minus cables of course) and weighing just 15 grams.

It comes well presented in a small box with sleeve and comes with the adapter, a 3.5mm audio cable, 3.5mm male to male adapter, an RCA cable, the USB charging cable and a user manual.

The adapter has a number of switches and sockets positioned around the outside including a + and – button for changing tracks, a pairing button, a switch to swap the device between transmitting and receiving and the audio and power ports. On top is a large power button and status LED.

Very straight forward to pair the device, once charged simply power it on and search for the Bluetooth named ‘MK2’ on your music device and plug the audio cable into the adapter and the speaker. You should get around 10hrs playtime on a full charge but you can keep the power lead plugged in for longer play time periods.

It currently retails at around £25.99 and is available on Amazon.

How we tested it?

We tested it out in a number of different situations from in a car to a TV sound bar to see the easy of use, reliability and most importantly the sound quality. We will test it mainly for use in a vehicle but take into account other functions.

We Liked:

  • It’s a small device that can be tucked away out of the way, but is still a good-looking device if on display (but who wants to see cables)
  • Sound quality is very good with no noticeable crackling or cut outs.
  • Comes with both an RCA audio cable, a 3.5mm adapter and a 3.5m cable – so if you didn’t want a cable on show you can plug it straight into the 3.5mm audio socket using the adapter

We didn’t like:

  • Price is a little bit on the steep side with other devices (albeit larger in size) available at a lower price. At this kind of price I would have liked to see some metal casing for additional protection.

Overall:

Despite being a bit pricey it’s a very good device to add Bluetooth functionality to speaking and cars that don’t currently have it built in. The sound quality is very good so if you are planning on picking up one of these we don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
