What We Say

What is it?

Power Maxed describe their Tyre Dressing and Renovator as follows:

Non solvent, non toxic, non flammable high shine tyre dressing for all vehicles.

Manufactured as a semi gel consistency for ease of application, Power Maxed Tyre Dressing contains materials that assist and enhance the appearance of tired rubber surfaces once applied directly.

How we Tested it?

We purchased a 5 Litre container of Tyre Dressing and Renovator to trial on a wide variety of tyre types and sizes over a period of time. Durability with tyre dressings are more subjective than anything else applied to a car as tyres come in for the most grief of all of any part of the vehicle while driving. Whilst we will revisit durability in time, the main focuses of this trial were ease of application and appearance.

We Liked:

  • Gel consistency of the product allows for a controlled application and a nice even finish, much easier to avoid over application.
  • Really easy to apply, we used a foam applicator pad with approx. an inch wide "blob" of gel and this was plenty to do most tyres.
  • The finish is a deep gloss black and you feel the finish really embedding itself in the tyre wall, covering areas of patchiness and any heavier staining on the tyre wall that couldn't be cleaned.
  • Although we weren't testing durability at this stage, by chance, a BMW M5 we applied it to during a business park valeting day had to leave instantly after application for an 80 mile round trip. We were shocked on his return that despite little to no dry time, the dressing was pristine upon his return.

We Didn't like:

  • The finish is subjective. We love it but many people won't like the high gloss. We find people very split on a "new look" or high gloss look on tyres. Not a criticism as such.
  • Whilst easier to use, the gel can be hard to control quantity used and you will use more than with liquid based dressings. It may be worthwhile fitting a pump to the container.

Overall:

We hate tyre dressings in general. The finish we want we can never get and when we do it will look one way on some tyres and not take to other tyres as well. With Power Maxed Tyre Dressing and Renovator, we found that every single tyre it was applied to it made look absolutely fantastic. We love the ease of application and it really finishes off a detailed vehicle superbly. Well done Power Maxed, you continue to impress us!
