What is it?

MER 'Power Foam Wheel Cleaner'is an advanced, non-acidic formula using MER's 'Auto Shine Technologie'to remove dirt, traffic film and brake dust to leave a deep gloss luster. While deep cleaning, its unique formulation contains gentle alkali's making it safe to use on all wheel finishes, including alloys.

How we Tested it?

We were kindly sent a range of Mer products to trial and have been using the wheel cleaner on a wide range of vehicles as part of this. We have used it in conjunction with a soft wheel brush and tested the product both agitated and used un-agitated on the wheel. We were looking particularly at cleaning power, dwell time and ease of use of the product.

We Liked:

• Great foam action means the product is easy to target where you want it to act most and dwells and sticks well to the wheel.
• Gentle yet effective, non acidic formula means no worrying about adverse effects.
• Strong cleaning power, largely cleaned most wheels tested on effortlessly.
• Very stylish packaging, as per the entire Mer range.

We Didn't Like

• You have to use quite a lot of product to cover a wheel effectively.
• Whilst the foaming action is useful, the trigger head isn't the best to evenly distribute this.
• Struggles with some heavier soiling.

Overall:

This is the first Mer product we have ever used and we really don't know why! What we can now say is it certainly won't be the last time we use the product. We were testing this alongside other wheel cleaners at the time and whilst it may not have the bite of some rivals, we enjoyed using this product far more due to work time and the foam meaning you knew exactly where you were working. For the vast majority of wheels used on, performance was sound, cleaning the wheel effectively and quickly and for a competitive price. A little work on the trigger head design may see the product become more economical and then Mer have a real winner.
