What is it?

Meguiars describe the product themselves as follows;

Ultimate Wash & Wax is the perfect way to clean and shine your car's finish in-between regular waxing, boosting your protection, glossiness and shine! Meguiar's premium carnauba wax and synthetic polymers provide protection and shine while you wash. Ultimate Wash & Wax is compatible with all Meguiar's wash and waxes.

How we Tested it:

We recently purchased a bottle of Meguiars Ultimate Wash and Wax. Being a veteran product on the market, we were surprised in ourselves that we had never actually used it! We put it to the test on several vehicles observing largely the economy of the product, cleaning properties and finish.

We Liked:

• Smells great, something Meguiars seem to consistently do well.
• Foams up nicely and retains this during the wash process.
• Gives a nice slick feel on paintwork, there were no concerns over the safety of the product.
• Rinses well to leave a nice crisp finish with minimal residue or marking.

We didn't like:

• It's not overly cheap to buy to begin with and you have to use quite a lot of product with 4 caps for every 3.5 litres of water.
• Very thick product makes accurate dispensing difficult.
• Not ideal product quantities on offer. The 1.4 litre size bottle is a little bizarre.

Overall

Meguiars have long established themselves as consistent providers of quality products with their Ultimate range being one of the consumer ranges that is available on the high street. The detailing market is naturally saturated with shampoos, many offering high dilutions, great value offerings and quirky smells and appearances. In appearance, Meguiars is a big winner with its bold bright colouring, nice smell and great finish for the car too, the most important factor at the end of the day. Where it falls flat somewhat is in its place against the competition. Others offer the same results for less and in more useable, easier to use quantities. Off the shelf, we would recommend it and there is no doubt it's a quality product. We just would end up parting with our money for more economical offerings.
