What is it?
Kaiser Baas describe it as 'the Kaiser Baas R50 Dash Cam captures incredibly detailed Full HD footage, so that you review your journeys with confidence. Even in low light conditions, the dash cam records every detail using a wide angle 156° lens with distortion correction.'
The R50 comes with both a 3M adhesive or a suction mount - as it wasn't going to be a permanent fixture in our test vehicle we opted for the suction mount - it was very solid once mounted to the windscreen.
The power lead that comes with the R50 Dashcam is slightly different to others as it actually includes the GPS within the cable that sticks neatly in the top corner of your windscreen with 3M adhesive backing. With the GPS receiver not being installed within the dashcam it allows the unit to be smaller and unobtrusive. It comes with sufficient cable to be routed around the windscreen and dash to your cigarette lighter socket.
Word of warning - it doesn't come with a required Micro SD Card, so make sure you pick one up at the same time.
The R50 records in 1080p Full HD and has an impressive 156° wide angle lens to record as much of the road as possible.
The built-in G-sensor will allow the dashcam to record any impacts or sudden movements and the footage is automatically protected on the memory card.
Now the R50's party piece, Hands free control. How does that work I hear you ask? There are sensors under the camera that picks up when you wave your hand underneath which will in return allows you to record events without having to take your eyes off the road to find a button. Neat.
Finally, the dashcam is also fitted with Wifi allowing you to connect directly with your smart phone to review saved footage and images. Simple connect to the Wifi, enter the code and open the app.
This was one of the mid to high range dashcams we tested that has a RRP of £119.99.
How we tested it?
We tested the dashcam individually over a period of time and followed the manufacturers'recommendations when configuring the recorder. We tested it in both daytime and nighttime.

Overall:
This is the first Kaiser Baas product we have tested and it's a great dashcam with some excellent features, we especially like the gesture control - anything that promotes safer driving is a bonus. At just over £100 (at time of writing) you get many great features for your money, these dashcams are just filtering into UK shops now so keep your eyes peeled.
