Dreambaby Stretch-To-Fit Adjustable Car Shade Review

Dreambaby describe the car shade as; Dreambaby Adjusta-Car Shade Stretch-It, Shape-It, Fit-It is a brand new car shade that is not only flexible and easy to use, that blocks out glare, but not the view. Perfect, sounds like just what we need. The promise of it being back to fit to nearly any car window regardless of shape is great, so gaps for the sun to get through.

What We Say

What is it:

Despite being in the UK we do get sun, and especially as we edge closer to the winter months the sun sits very low. So most people will need a car window shade to ensure we don't blind our children.

Dreambaby describe the car shade as; Dreambaby® Adjusta-Car Shade™ Stretch-It, Shape-It, Fit-It ™ is a brand new car shade that is not only flexible and easy to use, that blocks out glare, but not the view. Perfect, sounds like just what we need. The promise of it being back to fit to nearly any car window regardless of shape is great, so gaps for the sun to get through.

At time of writing you can pick it up for around £17 from a range of retailers.

How we tested it:

It's been fitted to our daily driver for a couple of weeks now and in that time, we've even had some sunny days, so we've had lots of opportunity to test it out.

We Liked:

  • It is stretchy enough to fit most car windows (up to 46 x 69cm)
  • The suction cups make putting it up an absolute breeze - just make sure you do your prep by cleaning the window first! The suction cups feel strong and it hasn't budged since going up.
  • You can still see through the window, albeit a darker view, but does seem to provide enough shade still.

 We Didn't Like:

  • As with any shade like this you lose the use of the rear window as the suction cups mean you can't lower the window.

Overall:

Overall, for the price it's a good buy. The only negative is the same with any kind of shade that attaches directly to the window - you lose the ability to lower the window, which may not be an issue if you've got air conditioning, but it can still be an inconvenience. The only way around this is to spend more on a shade that attaches to the window frame rather than the glass - we've reviewed carshades which do just that, but you'd be looking at around £45 for rear shades on the same vehicle. If you're looking for a shade on the cheaper side then the Dreambaby Adjusta-Car Shade is a great option, if you've got a bit more money to spend, I think I'd go for the carshades option.
