What We Say

What is it?

Draper are renowned for their tools so we were keen to test out one of their inspection lights, draper kindly provided us with their Slimline LED inspection light. The first thing you would notice about the inspection light is the long thin light area that allows you to slide the light into virtually any gap.

The inspection light has both a top torch and a main light area with a button that allows you to cycle through Half/Full/Torch. The main light puts out 280 lumens and the top torch puts out 40 lumens. It also features a 3.7v li-ion battery meaning that you should be able to use it for around 3 hours without needing to charge it.

The base is manufactured with an integrated magnet and hanging hook allowing for hands-free use and the light section is able to rotate to be used in any position.

You can pick up this inspection light for around £30-35 and is available from a number of different retailers.

How we tested it?

As with all inspection lights we test it in a dark unit in an engine bay to test its brightness, ability to get into different areas and ability to use handsfree. All inspection lights are fully charged prior to testing.

We Liked:

  • With it's slim top you can slide the light into nearly any space making it very versatile
  • Considering how slim the top half of the light is it still feels quite sturdy and strong

We didn't like:

  • The top light isn't very bright but as you can get the main light anywhere it doesn't make too much difference.
  • The main light is also not the brightest we've had on test, but again as you can get it in anywhere it makes up for it.

Overall:

Overall a very good inspection light, it's slim light area means you can get it into virtually any gap which can be perfect for those tight spaces. It's also priced very well with you being able to pick it up for around £30. These two points alone make it a great option, we just wish it was that little bit brighter - but to get it brighter we suspect at this point in time it would mean it would get much fatter.
