What is it?

A rotary polisher from the team at Dodo Juice, described by Dodo themselves as follows; The Spin Doctor is a compact and lightweight (approx 2kg bare) machine with a powerful 1100W motor and digital speed control. This means a digital LCD display shows your speed to the nearest 100rpm and you can accurately adjust your polishing speed from 1000-3000rpm at the touch of a button, just by using your thumb.

How we Tested it:

We actually purchased this machine as we had wanted a lightweight rotary alternative for within the detailing studio. During this time we have been able to look at its cutting and refining abilities and its general ease of use.

We Liked:

• Very nice machine to hold and control. Lightweight and balanced in its build.
• Digital display is more accurate than a speed wheel for setting speeds for use.
• Very good cutting capability, rapidly removes defects.
• Lightweight machine makes pressure adjustment for finishing and refining very simple.
• Good value all in one kit.

We didn't like:

• Quite easy to accidently increase the speed during use by leaning on the digital control + and - Signs and as such lose control unexpectedly.
• Lock button to remove backing plates and attachments is a little temperamental and can be awkward.

Overall

There is no doubt about it that no matter what developments come to dual action and random orbital polishers, there will always be a place for rotary machines and nothing can cut as quickly in the right hands. The Spin Doctor from Dodo Juice is a machine to suit all. For those new to rotary polishing, it offers a controlled and lightweight introduction to rotary polishing while for experienced users, it's a very competent machine particularly at home on more intricate focussed correcting over larger machines. While we believe a refinement is needed to the digital controls to minimise accidental adjustments, with the Spin Doctor available as a kit for £100, master the machine and it does make machines 2-3 times the price hard to justify.
