What is it?

According to Dodo Juice, a Wax-Friendly, Wallet-Friendly Shampoo. Basics Wax-safe Wash is the perfect introduction to the legendary range of Dodo Juice detailing shampoos. pH-neutral and residue free. It contains the same high quality biodegradable surfactants found in the more expensive Dodo Juice shampoos, yet is a simpler recipe scaled up for larger production runs, making it markedly less expensive. Despite cleaning well, it is wax-safe, helping preserve wax or sealant layers previously applied to the car. Use it on glass, including windscreens, without fear of smearing and at 1:400 dilution ratio it is twice as concentrated as typical high street shampoos. Plus it smells like aftershave. Good times!

How we Tested it?

Basics of bling was purchased in a 500ml quantity for use by our PVD detailer. This gave ample amount to test on a range of cars. We also tested the shampoo for lubricity for use with clay and on both bodywork and wheels of the vehicles.

We Liked:

• Lovely fresh clean smell. Smells like a quality product.
• One of the best products to date for foaming. It almost foams to a mousse like consistency which is really nice to work with and aids the lubricity of the product.
• Nicely packaged, quirky styling but such is Dodo Juice famous for but with a stylish edge.
• Cleans well for a gentle product, makes for a superb maintenance product.

We Didn't like:

• Appears cheap but dilution of 400:1 whilst reasonable isn't close to others used and as such is actually no better value.
• Dispensing is slightly confusing as the label says to do it in capfuls yet has a squeezepump action to dispense which would be disengaged if removing lid.
• Struggled occasionally with some heavier soiling on our test car.

Overall:

This is a great product for the home user. From a professional detailers perspective, the dilution doesn't quite cut it. However, it is a joy to use with its lovely texture and good lubricity combining with great smell to make the wash stage something you look forward to.
