What is it?

A real old school wax with durability in mind. Retro packaging and no fancy gimmicks here. Description taken from Collinite website as follows:

A Mr. Collins original, this classic carnauba/polymer blend is also Collinite's most durable. Holds up month after month against harmful outdoor corrosives; UV, rain, snow, salt, dust, dirt, grime, bugs, staining and more. Ideal as a winter wax when both lasting shine and all-season/all-conditions protection are equally crucial. Handcrafted and handpoured in the USA.

How we Tested it?

After hearing of the durability of the product, we decided to invest and use it as part of our winter protection treatments in the detailing business. We particularly looked for ease of application and protection on offer.

We Liked:

• The packaging gives the impression of a trusted, proven product that has been around for a while for a reason.
• Easy to apply, slightly dampen the applicator and a small amount will easily cover a panel.
• Easy to remove with a short cure time of 5-10 minutes. As long as you don't leave on too long, it's a breeze to use.
• Durability and water repellency are fantastic. We have returned to the product 6 months later to see it still present.
• Leaves a lovely depth to the finish. We weren't expecting much in terms of lustre and gloss but it surprised us.
• Amazing value. You can get a tin for around £15-18 and will last you dozens of applications.

We Didn't like:

• If you leave the product on too long before removal, it can punish you by setting like concrete.
• Smells quite chemical. Though the product isn't designed to be "flash".

Overall:

Collinite 476s is undoubtedly the king of the all rounder. It all comes down to what you want from a product. There are waxes that leave a better depth. There are waxes that smell better and are easier to use. There are waxes that are more stylish and luxurious feeling. None of these waxes can offer the complete package that Collinite offers for the price at which it does so and as such it is hard to look past it.
