What We Say

What is it:

A ceramic protection treatment claiming a durability of 12 months, BD Clean themselves describe the product as follows; Kryptonite seals and protects paintwork, plastics, chrome, aluminium, glass and wheels. Allows for easier surface cleaning and maintenance. Unaffected by repeated washing cycles - tests show that this unique ceramic coating maintains its protective integrity even after 40 wash cycles.

How we Tested it:

BD Clean were kind enough to send us a bottle of Kryptonite to put through its paces. We have been doing so both as a standalone product and in a group test against rival product which is coming soon. We tested the product on our own work vehicle as it is well used and an ideal test for a quality protection. The panel was decontaminated, corrected by machine and panel wiped prior to application and regular observations of protective qualities taken.

We Liked:

• Very easy to apply, fast results for both professional and home user alike is always a bonus.
• Leaves a nice slick, deep appearance even on the silver test panel we were using for the trial.
• Very good beading and sheeting even on a dirty unwashed car after several weeks.
• Durability appears very strong at time of writing, showing no signs of diminishing after 6-8 weeks on test thus far.
• Fantastic value, particularly compared to close rivals at just £12.99.

We Didn't like:

• Slightly confusing purpose of use. Product labelling states protection for painted surfaces but also suitable for plastics, glass and chrome. Is it a multi use protection or just for painted surfaces?
• Other ceramics on the market come as kits with accompanying applicator. Though granted cost more.

Overall

Kryptonite by BD Clean has the potential to be a real stormer of a product offering fantastic protection and results quickly and easily for a great price. We have been very impressed with the protective qualities of the product both on bodywork and glass considering we had applied to a whole bonnet in less than 2 minutes and it shows no signs of letting up anytime soon. Whilst comparatively in the ceramic world, Kryptonite is more of a short term ceramic sealant as opposed to multi-year coatings, the price point could draw people away from much more expensive products and encourage them to try the product. Though ironically, the products great low price may have a reverse impact as those who are loyal to rival brands costing more may question the low cost but would be foolish to do so. Kryptonite is Supermans weakness, is BD Cleans entry going to prove to be a weakness for rivals?
