What is it:
Direct from Armor Shield themselves, Utilizing the latest in nano-technology, our anti-scratch ceramic coating forms a strong glass-like protective layer above your paint. Armor Shield IX is a highly durable transparent coat, which is mud repellent, scratch resistant, hydrophobic and much more.
How we tested it:
We have been applying ceramic coatings for the past 5 or 6 years in our sister company so have vast experience in their application and general behaviour. Rather than a test vehicle, we decided to test this on the bonnet of our personal works vehicle. We prepped the surface with a full decontamination, machine correction of the panel, panel wipe to remove surface oils from polish and then applied the coating.
We observed ease of application, changes in appearance of the bonnet, hydrophobic properties and how the coating behaved over a period of 2 months.
We Didn't Like:
Really impressive coating from a brand which is very popular Stateside but largely unknown here. The beauty being, order two bottles or more and Avalon King will deliver to the UK free of charge! We were particularly impressed with just the general style factor of the coating which from unboxing to application just feels more premium than many rivals. Importantly, this isn't at the expense of a quality protection. Two months in and the coating is still repelling water as good as day 1 and looks fantastic. A very commendable coating offering, though we would still always favour a professional applying for control and perfect finish.
Their website has some great material on how to apply the coatings etc. You can check it out here: https://avalonking.com/
Durability: We are unable to confirm the durability of this coating just yet as this is a long term coating - We will report back with our findings but we have scored the below...
