What is it?

One of the most famous waxes out there and the flagship product of the Autoglym range in many ways. Taken from the Autoglym website:

High Definition Wax is quite simply our finest product.

The result of 40 years of product research and development, this expertly crafted wax is individually filled and inspected before being carefully air cooled ensuring it is suitable for use on the world's finest vehicles.

High Definition Wax contains a carefully balanced, yet complex blend of polymers, carnauba and microcrystalline waxes.

Treated surfaces display a very high gloss combined with exceptional resistance to environmental contaminants including salt, detergents, UV light, acid rain and industrial fallout. The product is completely free of abrasives, water and emulsifiers.

How we Tested it?

After hearing good things we ordered a couple of sets of Autoglym HD wax during a promotion. We used the wax on a range of finishes and assessed the durability, finish, ease of application and value.

We Liked:

• The fact that HD wax is presented as a complete kit. You get 150ml of wax, two applicators in storage bags to keep damp for application and a high quality removal towel all presented in a stylish container.
• With proper preparation, HD wax is capable of finishes up there with the best.
• The method of application allows for you to coat the entire vehicle before removing.
• Removal while taking a little buffing is largely effortless.
• Decent durability lasting several months on a personal vehicle.

We Didn't like:

• The included applicator pads are a strange shape and some may find them awkward to use.
• We cant get past the price. Whilst a strong performer, there are products for half the price of HD wax that performs equal to or debatably better than the HD in durability, finish and ease of use.

Overall:

HD Wax is a very good all-rounder. With good levels of durability, hypnotising beading and a great depth of shine, it's hard to find much wrong with the product itself. HD Wax's biggest problem is Collinite 476s (Check out our review!) as it's half the price and a great finish. However, we do like that you can coat a whole vehicle before having to remove though and it is a very easy way to get great results for your paintwork in not much time at all.
