What is it?

A 'complete'clay kit from Autoglym comprising of a 100ml clay bar, 500ml of rapid detailer to use as clay lubrication, 100ml of Auto glym Super Resin Polish and a Hi Tech finishing cloth.

How we Tested it:

Autoglym kindly sent us a complete clay kit to trial and we used it on 4 various vehicles all with different amounts of surface contamination. As we always use a fallout remover prior to clay, we were consistent with this and did so here as well to ensure the clay was having to remove the minimum amount possible and minimise marring. We cut the clay bar into four small parts and used with the supplied detailer.

We Liked:

• A convenient kit for those who don't like shopping around the various components of the kit.
• Rapid detailer is an excellent clay lubrication and made for very slick clay passes across the panels.
• Clay performed well leaving most panels very smooth to the touch and contamination free.
• Nice clay to work with, easy to mould into shape and to refold and mould when required.

We didn't like:

• More clarity needed on the clay itself. Most clay products these days will tell you of the harshness of the clay (fine, medium, coarse etc.) This is just labelled as premium clay.
• The kit is expensive. You can buy individual components cheaper from rivals. You seem to pay a lot extra for 100ml of polish and a small towel.
• For the price, two bottles of detailer would be more beneficial than the polish as we ran out of ours quickly.
• Whilst great lubrication, the detailer dries very messy on paint and this may be where the polishes place is justified.

Overall

A good quality clay product with a very good clay lubricant provided as a convenient kit, on paper the Autoglym Clay kit looks a sound investment. However, there is no getting away from the fact it is pricey. If you were to buy the excellent rapid Detailer separately for £9.99, with the money left over from this kit you could buy a 200g Bilt Hamber clay bar giving you twice the amount of clay and a 500ml bottle of many polishes. This will probably appeal to those on the high street due to the convenience of the kit and it does perform well but be prepared to shop around and you will find far greater value and no compromise in performance.
